Lack of food?

If I ask how full a person would be after eating, people everywhere n Hong Kong can simply give me an answer in detail. However, if I ask how hungry a person would be, there will be so few of people who know the answer that I can count with my fingers. It shows that the standard of living of Hong Kong people is high enough to make each of them full every meal and every day.

It is a pity if Hong Kong people grumble about having a meal that is not their flavors, as in many parts of the world; there are many people who are suffering from hunger. According to the report, conducted by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), it is estimated that from 1997 to 1999, there were 815 million undernourished people in the world.

The problem in rural area like Africa seems to be the biggest one among the other parts of the world.

Just take a look at the picture (left), the child is so poor. He is one of the children among the millions Children suffering from hunger. However, the actual circumstance is even worse. These children are weaker, skinnier than the one you see in the picture. Why does this still happen in the 21st century? As a matter of fact, the supply of food is adequate enough to meet the need of all people around the world, but the food resources are poorly allocated that more than 80% of them are occupied by the 25% of the rich countries like the United States. Therefore, many children died in consequence of undernourished.

We are so lucky that we live in cities where the supply is sufficient. As I think, we should do something for those who are less fortunate. For example, we can donate money to charity organizations aiming to help people from hunger. Even you cannot do this at the moment, you should at least bear it in mind and tell others there are still such miserable people in the world.

Deeply, what I want to say is that ¡§treasure what you now have and don¡¦t complain ¡¥I don¡¦t like to have the meal, being not your favorite).¡¨
